Sophia Sowinski is a math and science tutor with experience coaching competition math and as a programming instructor. She recently graduated from Barnard College with degrees in Computational Biology and Dance. During her time in undergrad, Sophia worked as a Science Writing Fellow mentoring her peers through their scientific writing processes. Additionally, she completed computational biology research at the New York Genome Center in the Knowles Lab, for which she was awarded Best Interdisciplinary Project at the 2022 Barnard/Columbia Undergraduate Computer and Data Science Research Fair. Sophia is interested in increasing accessibility in scientific education and upon graduation has taken up roles as a STEAM educator in pursuit of this goal. Outside her work in STEM, she is a professional contemporary dancer exploring the intersection of machine learning and choreography.
Lillian Zhi is a junior at Barnard College, Columbia University majoring in biochemistry. She has tutored both high school and college level courses, and is the in-class chemistry tutor for the Barnard General Chemistry course. She aims to help students gain confidence in their academic ability and engage their interest in course material. In her free time, Lillian enjoys playing the violin, volunteering, and playing video games.
